Easy Methi Pulao Recipe | Methi Matar Pulao | Methi Rice Recipe

Methi Pulao is a healthy One Pot meal Recipe, made with Methi, Matar(Peas) & whole spices. Along with matar, you can also add vegetables of your choice like carrot, beans, capsicum & Cauliflower to make pulao more healthy & colorful. Methi leaves are rich in vitamins & minerals.It is a strong antioxidant. It improves bone health & good for heart.It also reduces mensural discomfort. Peas is a very Good source of protein & high in micro nutrient.It has anti-aging properties.We can pack for kids lunch box too.

Methi leaves - 1 Cup.
Green peas - 3/4 Cup.
onions - 2.
Ginger - 1 inch.
Garlic - 4 .
Green chillies - 3 - 4.
salt - as needed.
oil - 1.5 tbsp.
Ghee - 1.5 tbsp.
Cinnamon - 2 small pieces.
Cloves - 2.
Cardamom - 4.
Bay leaf - 1.


Soak 1 cup of basmati rice in 2 Cups of water for 1/2 an hour.

Chop the onions lengthwise.

Crush the Garlic,Ginger & Green chillies in a mortar & pestle into a fine paste, alternatively you can blend in a mixie.


Heat the oil & Ghee in a Cooker, add Cinnamon, cloves,cardomom,bay leaf.
Saute for few minutes till you get nice aroma.

Then add onions, crushed Ginger,Garlic & Green chili. 

Saute till onions turns pink.

Add Chopped methi leaves, saute for 2 - 3 minutes in a medium flame.

Add Green Peas, Saute  for 2 minutes.

Add Rice, saute for a minute.

Then add 2 Cups of water. Add salt.

When water starts boiling, close the lid of a cooker.

When Steam starts coming from the cooker, place the weight & keep it in a sim mode for 5 - 6 minutes.

Then switch off the flame.

Give a standing time for 15 minutes. Rice gets cooked well with that heat of cooker itself.

Then open the lid & serve hot.

It Goes well with dal Tadka or dal fry or any Gravies.
