Drumstick Dal is a Delicious healthy Dal Recipe made with Drumstick & Dal as Main Ingredient. Drumstick tastes so delicious when it is cooked with Toor dal. Flavour of Dal also is also Great with Drumstick. Drumstick is packed with Calcium,vitamins & Minerals.It helps  to built strong bones. it purifies blood. It is So Good for Pregnant Women too. 

Drumstick Dal

 Prep Time :  10   hours. 
Cook Time : 10   minutes per Roti.

Toor dal - 1/2 cup.
Onion - 1.
Tomato - 1.
Drumstick - 2.
Garlic - 4.
Ginger - 1/4 inch 
Green chillies - 2.
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp.
Chilli Powder - 1/2 tsp.
Salt - As needed.

To Temper

Curry leaves - 1 Sprig.Coriander leaves - few (for Garnishing).
oil - to fry.
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp.
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp. 
Hing - a Generous Pinch.


  • Chop the drumstick to approximately to 2.5 inches.
  • Chop Onion, tomato,Garlic , Ginger & Green chilly . 


 1. Pressure Cook the Toor dal till it turns Soft by adding Needed water with pinch of Turmeric.

2. Take small Pressure cooker, add chopped onion,Ginger,Garlic,Green chillies,tomato, drumstick, Cooked dal, turmeric powder,chilli powder,salt  with needed water & pressure cook for one whistle.

3. When pressure subsides, open the lid. Temper with Tadka. Heat the oil, add mustard seeds, when it splutters, add cumin seeds.
4. When it sizzles, add hing & curry leaves. Give a quick Mix.
5. Pour the Tadka over pappu & serve hot with Rice.


Always pressure cook the drumstick for one whistle, else there is a chance of breaking Drumstick, if you cook more.
you can add one Red chilly also while making Tadka, for more spicy.
