Masala Toast Recipe | Iyengar Bakery Style | Iyengar Bread Toast


Bread - 10 slices (wheat Bread/Plain Bread/ Multigrain Bread).

Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp.
oil - as needed.
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp.
Green chillies - 2.
Onion - 1.
Tomato - 1.
Carrot - 2(small)
Cabbage - 1/2 cup(shredded)
Capsicum - 1(small)
Chilli Powder - 1/2 tsp.
Garam masala - 1/4 tsp.
Chaat Masala - 1/2 tsp.
Tomato Ketchup - 1 tbsp.
salt - as Needed.
Coriander leaves - 2 tbsp (chopped)
Butter - for toasting.


Grate Carrots,shred cabbage,chop Green chillies, onion,tomato,capsicum finely.


  • Take a kadai, heat the oil, add mustard seeds,when it splutters add cumin seeds,when it sizzles, add Green chillies. 
  • When chillies turns pale, add chopped onions, saute till it turns pink. Add Grated carrot,shredded Cabbage. saute till veggies turns little soft. Add Capsicum, Saute till capsicum are well cooked.
  • Add tomato, add chilli Powder,Garam Masala, Chaat Masala & salt.
  • Saute till tomatoes turns mushy. Add tomato ketchup.Give a quick Mix. Cook till the mixture Combines. 

  • Garnish with fresh coriander leaves. Now Masala Preparation is Ready.
  • Heat the tawa, place bread, add butter. Cook on both sides till it turns Crisp. 

  • top it with 2 tbsp of prepared Masala, spread evenly over toasted bread. Enjoy !


  • Add veggies of your choice to make it more nutritious.
  • Adding Cabbage gives Crunchiness to toast.
  • you can use any bread of your choice.
  • Adding chaat Masala gives extra flavour to your toast.
