Ribbon Pakoda - Ribbon Murukku - Ottu Pakoda - Easy Diwali Snacks

Ribbon Pakoda is an crispy Ribbon Shaped Murukku Recipe made for festive Occasions like Diwali & Ugadi.It is also called Ottu Pakoda or Ola Pakoda.Traditionally Par boiled rice is soaked & ground into fine paste.Then it is mixed with besan flour & some spices.But Now I made with Instant version by just mixing the flours.Even the beginners can try this Easy snack.I learnt this recipe from my Aunt.

Ingredients

Rice flour - 2 cups.
fried Gram Powder - 1/2 cup.
Besan flour - 1/4 cup.
sesame seeds - 1/2 tsp.
Cumin seeds - 1/4 tsp.
Hing - 1/4 tsp.
Ghee - 3 tbsp. 
Chilli Powder - 1 + 1/2 tsp.
Salt - As  needed.

Preparation

Powder the fried Gram.

Method
  • Take a Mixing bowl add Rice flour,fried Gram Powder,Besan flour,sesame seeds,Cumin seeds,Hing,chilli Powder , Ghee & salt. Mix well.
  •  Add water little by little to make a soft dough.
  • Take a Murukku press , fix the ribbon Pakoda Plate to it as sown in the Picture.

  •  Now heat the oil, When oil is hot put a piece of dough into it.if its Pops up immedieately it is an indication that oil is hot.
  • Half fill the Murukku mould with the dough & squeeze the murukku in Circular Motion over the hot oil.

  • fry till it turns Golden on both the sides & shh! sound stops.Always fry in a Medium low flame.
  • Store it in a Air tight Container. 

Notes
  • I have added Ghee for nice flavour, instead you can use hot oil or butter.
  • Instead of Chilli Powder you can use finely crushed Pepper Powder also for  variation.
  • you can add Ginger & a Green Chilli for more Spicy.
  • Always Cook in a Medium low flame.
