Hotel style Chutney - Raw Onion Coconut Chutney

Raw Onion  Chutney is a Simple, delicious chutney with nice aroma of Coconut & Onions. It is made with freshly Grated coconut , shallots(pearl onions) & Red Chillies. This Chutney tastes Great with Idli,Dosa,chapathi,Roti, Akki Roti,Paniyaram,Appam,Bonda & vadai.  You can make this chutney in no  time.This Chutney tastes Good without the tempering .

Coconut - 1 cup.
Red chillies - 4.
Pearl onions/Shallots - 1/2 cup.
Salt - to taste.


Remove the skin of Pearl onions & keep it ready.


  • Dry Grind Coconut,chillies & salt into a  coarse Paste.
  • Then  add Pearl Onions & grind into a little coarse or smooth paste as you wish. Then add little water & bring to thick  chutney consistency.  

  • Now hotel style chutney is Ready.


  • Tempering is not necessary for this chutney.
  • you can add 2 garlic,while Grinding Pearl Onions, for additional flavour.
  • Always add fresh coconut for best Results.
  • Adding Pearl onions gives nice taste to chutney.
