coconut idli - Kobbari kudumulu - Thengai idli

Coconut idli is made with Rice rava and coconut. It is one of the authentic and popular recipes of vysyas. This idli has unique taste with nice aroma of coconut. This idli Goes well with coconut chutney. When i was working in a college, i had taken this recipe, for lunch box everyone loved it, and they also  asked for the preparation of the recipe.Now we will see the preparation of recipe.



                                                           Coconut Idli

 Prep Time : 15 min.

Ingredients
Rice Rava/broken rice  - 1 cup.
water - 3 cup.
Grated coconut - 1/2 cup.
Chana dal - 2 tbsp.
Moong dal-1 tbsp
salt - for taste.

 

Preparation

 Method to Prepare Rice Rava: Dry Grind the raw rice  coarsely like rava. Now Rice Rava is Ready.

Method
  • Pour 3 cups of water in a pan/ kadai .Add chana dal,Moong dal,Grated coconut  &  salt.


  •  When the water starts boiling add Rice  Rava .


  • Mix well without having any lumps. cook in a medium flame, till the water in it gets absorbed and comes in the form of dough consistency.
  • when the dough is warm,spread it on a plate &  pat it with your fingers.


  • Steam the plate  for 13 to 15  minutes . Now coconut idli is ready.
  • When idli's are warm, draw lines into desired shape.

Notes

  • Always use fresh coconut for Good taste.
  • you can also use store bought Rice Rava.
  • you can also pack this idli's for lunch box.
