Majjiga Charu - Butter Milk Rasam

Majjiga Charu is an Comforting Recipe, from cuisine of Andhra Pradesh. It is a  Andhra style tempered Sour Butter Milk Rasam. It is made in No time. Majjiga Pulusu is cooked with vegetables. Majjiga charu does not require Veggies. It is served with steamed Rice. 


Majjiga Charu

Serves - 2.


Curd - 1 cup.
Onion - 1 (Big)
salt - to taste.
Coriander seeds - few (for Garnishing)
Red chillies - 1.
Green chillies -1.

To Temper

oil - As needed.
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp.
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp.
Methi seeds - 1/4 tsp.
Hing - a Generous Pinch.
curry leaves - 1 sprig.


  • Whisk the curd to smooth Butter Milk, consistency.
  • Chop the onions, lengthwise.


  1  Heat the oil, add mustard seeds, when it splutters, add cumin seeds.

 2.When it sizzles, add methi seeds, hing, curry leaves & Chillies.

3. When chillies are slightly roasted, add onions.
4. Saute till onions turns transparent & still  turmeric, saute till it raw smell Goes. 
5. Pour this tempering over Butter Milk. Garnish with Fresh Coriander leaves. 

Serve with rice & Enjoy.
