Peanut Sundal - Verusenaga Guggillu - Verkadalai Sundal

Peanut Sundal is a delicious Sundal Recipe, made during festive Occasions like Navratri. To the boiled Peanuts, fresh grated coconut is added, which gives additional taste to sundal.I have added carrots also to give extra nutrition. it can also be had as an evening snack.Peanuts are packed with vitamins & Minerals. It is rich in Proteins. it is a Good anti oxidant.Now we will see the preparation of peanuts.

Serves:3 -4 


Peanuts - 1 Cup (dried)
Coconut - 1/4 Cup.
Carrot - 2 tbsp or small carrot - 1 (Grated)
Salt - to taste

To Temper

Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp.
Urad dal - 1 tsp.
Curry leaves - 1 sprig.
Red chillies - 2 (broken)
hing - a Generous Pinch
oil - to fry


Soak the Peanuts for 3 hours with needed water & Pressure cook it for 3 whistles.When Pressure subsides open the lid, drain the water Completely & keep the Peanuts aside.


  • Heat the oil, add Mustard seeds.When it splutters add Urad dal, Curry leaves  Broken Chillies & hing. 
  • When dal's turns Golden brown colour add Grated Carrots. Saute for 2 - 3 minutes, till it cooked.

    • Add  drained Peanuts & saute for minute.

    • Finally add  salt & freshly Grated Coconut, Give a quick Mix.Now Peanut Sundal is Ready.

    • if using fresh Peanuts,no need to Pressure Cook it.
    • you can also Grind Green chillies,Coconut & Ginger coarsely.Then add it to Peanuts.
    • you can also grate the mango & add it to sundal while serving.
    • Always use Fresh Coconut for Good taste.
