Hot Chocolate Recipe - Hot cocoa Recipe - Easy Home Made Hot chocolate

Hot chocolate, also known as hot cocoa, is a heated beverage typically consisting of shaved chocolate, melted chocolate or cocoa powder, heated milk or water, and sugar.if you have chocolate craving you could make this drink in no time.I had it once in starbucks, it tasted awesome,so  i tried at home. Milk blended with cocoa and sugar tasted yummy and aroma was Good. A study conducted by Cornell University has shown that hot chocolate contains more antioxidants than wine and tea, therefore reducing the risk of heart disease.Now we will learn the recipe.




 

Hot Chocolate Recipe

 Prep Time : 5 min. 
Cook Time :5 minutes.
Recipe Category:Beverages

Serves  :  1. 

Ingredients
Cocoa Powder - 1 tbsp.
Sugar - 1 tbsp.
salt - 1 pinch.
water - 2 tbsp.
Boiled Milk - 1 cup.
Vanilla Essence - 1/4 tsp.


Method
  • Heat the  pan, add sugar,cocoa powder and pinch of salt. Mix well. 

  • Add water, stir for 1 - 2 minutes, until the mixture boils,  then add milk, stir well. 

  •  Stir constantly to serving temperature.Do not boil.  
  • Remove from pan, then add vanilla Essence. Whisk till frothy.
Notes
  • Milk should not be allowed to boil. 
  • Top With whipped Cream, if desired.

Varagu Arisi Upma - Arikelu Upma - Kodo Millet Upma

Kodo Millet is called  (Hindi: Kodra; Tamil: Varagu; Telugu: Arikelu; Kannada: Harka, Koovaragu:Malayalam).Varagu rice is gluten-free and packed with vitamins,fibers and minerals.Kodo  Rice helps in weight reduction. it also fights diabetics, if taken regularly.It is highly nutritious and filling breakfast Recipe. This recipe was taught by my neighbour aunty. I tried it and came out well. so I wanted to share this healthy  recipe. Now we learn to make kodo millet Upma with step Wise Pictures.






 

Kodo Millet Upma

 Prep Time : 10 min. 
Cook Time : 20

Serves  :  4.


Ingredients

Kodo Millet - 1 cup.
Water - 3 Cup.
Onions - 3.
Green chillies - 4.
Ginger - 1/2 inch.
Carrot - 1.
Beans - 8.
Potato - 1. (Diabetics should omit it)
Turmeric - 1/8 tsp.
oil - to fry.

To Temper

Mustard seeds - 1/ 2 tsp.
Urad dal - 2 tsp.
Chanadal - 1 tsp.
Curry leaves - 1 sprig.


Preparation
  • Wash Kodo millet two or three times, then drain the water  completely and keep it aside.
  • Chop onions, Green chillies and veggies finely. Grate the Ginger.


Method
  • Heat the oil in a Pressure cooker, add mustard seeds when it splutters, add urad dal, chanadal, curry leaves and Green chillies.

  • When dal's  turns golden brown add onions, Ginger, turmeric, saute till onions turns golden brown.
  • Add carrots,beans,and potato saute for  2 to 3 minutes. Then add millet, saute for 1 minute, till everything combines.

  • Then add water and salt. When water starts boiling &  when steam comes from the cooker  put the weight, and sim it to a  low flame for 5 minutes. Then switch off the flame.Give a standing time of 10 minutes.

  • Then open the lid and serve hot with any type of chutney or sambar .

Notes

  • you could also make upma in a pan, but if you make in pressure cooker, it gives more  softness to upma.
  • Diabetic patients plz exclude potatoes.

Chocolate is an Easy Recipe made with marie biscuit , cocoa Powder and condensed milk. This is a No Cook Recipe. Even the kids can try this recipe with Supervision of Elders. If you have chocolate craving, you can make this balls in no time.Kids love a lot.You can Even make it for kids birthday parties.







   

Marie Biscuit Chocolate Balls

 Prep Time : 10 min. 
Cook Time :  Nil.

Yield  :  15 balls.


Ingredients

Marie Biscuit - 15.
Butter - 2 tbsp.
Cocoa Powder - 2 tbsp.
Milk Maid - 1/4 cup.
Vanilla Essence - 1 tsp.
Ghee - 1 tsp.




Preparation

Powder the marie biscuit in a mixie or blender.


Method

  • Beat the butter, till soft.
  • To the butter add powdered Marie biscuit,cocoa Powder, vanilla Essence, and Milk maid, mix well to make the soft dough.

  • Grease your hands with Ghee or melted butter, then roll into small  balls.chocolate balls  are ready.

Notes

  • After making balls, you could roll it in dessicated coconut or sprinkles, or you can have it as plain.
  • you could also roll balls in nuts powder.

karivepaku karam podi - karivepillai podi recipe - curryleaves powder

Karivepaku  Podumu/Podi Goes well with hot rice, with a dollop of Ghee.it also goes well with idli, dosa and uttapam's. We usually add sesame  oil, with this podi. Health benefits of curry leaves are more. It Protects your liver from damage.Keeps your blood sugar levels under check,fights diabetes.Lowers cholesterol and protects you from heart disease.It is  great to stop hair fall, premature greying of the hair and accelerate hair growth.Now we learn to make healthy and spicy curry leaves powder.






   



Karivepaku Karam Podi

 Prep Time : 10 min. 
 Cook Time :  15   minutes.
 Recipe Category:Lunch

Yield  :  1 cup.
Recipe Cuisine:Indian

Ingredients

Curry leaves - 2 cup.(tightly packed).
urad dal - 1/4 cup.
Channa dal - 1/4 cup.
cumin seeds - 1 tsp.
Pepper Corns - 1 tsp.
salt - as needed.
tamarind - Goosebery size.
Red chillies - 15.



Preparation

Wash the curry leaves, and drain it in a colander. Then spread the  washed curry leaves in cloth at shade,  and let it dry, till the moisture in it, goes off.

Method

  •  Dry roast cumin seeds and pepper corns in a kadai, till you get nice aroma(Smell).


  • Dry roast urad dal and chanadal, till you get nice aroma from the dal's, and also it lightly turns golden brown.
  • Dry roast Red chillies for 3 - 4 minutes.
  • Dry roast, curry leaves till it is crisp. if you crush in hands it should break.do not burn.


  • Dry roast the tamarind, till the moisture in it goes off.
  • Dry grind everything,  in a mixie or blender to a fine Powder with required salt.


  • Store it in a air tight container.

Curd Dosa - With Left over rice - Majjiga attu -Thayir Dosa

If you have left over rice at home don't worry. you could make yummy curd dosa with left over rice. Curd dosa(Yogurt) is a simple and authentic dosa variety made with left over rice and little curd.Flavour of curd gives additional taste to dosa. This recipe is taught by one of my aunt when i met her.After she told the recipe, i immediately made it. Everybody in home liked it. so i wanted to share this recipe with you.






Majjiga Attu(Curd dosa)

 Prep Time : 10 min. 
 Cook Time :  2 - 3    minutes per dosa.

Ingredients
To Grind 
Cooked Rice - 1 cup.
Green chillies - 5.
Raw rice - 1 cup.
salt - as Required
curd - 1/8 cup.

To add into batter
 Big onions - 2.
Curry leaves - 1 sprig.
Cilantro(coriander leaves) - fistful.


   
 

Preparation

Soak raw rice for 4 - 5 hrs or over night.

Method

  • Grind everything in a to Grind column to a fine paste with needed water and salt.
  • Allow it to ferment overnight  or 8 - 9 hrs.
  • Before preparation, add finely chopped big onions,finely chopped curry leaves and cilantro to the batter and mix well.
  • Consistency should be like little thicker than rava dosa , as shown in the picture.

Dosa preparation

  • Heat the dosa Tawa, when it is hot, pour the dosa, from the edges, in a circular motion as shown in picture , then fill remaining gap with batter.drizzle some oil, when cooked on one side,flip the dosa, when both sides are cooked, remove it from tava.
